To celebrate National Science Week, the Centenary Institute hosted "The Great Scientific Bake Off". It has been far too long since I've baked something, life has just been insanely busy but I do love an excuse to bake! You may recall that I recently attended a cookie decorating class run by Patty Mac Cookies and made these amazing Easter cookies. Well, I decided to contact my dear friend Patty to see if she would be interested in collaborating and what do you know, she said "Yes!". We spent many late nights chatting, sketching and planning our creation. The result: scientifically accurate sugar cookies including mammalian cells, gel electrophoresis, blackboards, RBCs and more! In addition to the cookies we made a petri dish cake (biscuit crumb base with layers of white chocolate, marshmallow and strawberry jelly), a pipette box (vanilla sponge with buttercream and fondant) and fondant pipette tips! There were eight edible entries in total and public voting took place that day to decide the winner. And guess what? Wait for it...we won FIRST PRIZE a $100 Westfield voucher!! So pleased! Time to buy more baking supplies. :) Mi xo
